Apple 15-Inch MacBook Air Coming, Say Blogs [Cupertino Is Said To Be Working On A Big Laptop To Compete With Intel's Ultrabook, But May Be Branded As MacBook Pro]

We’ve got some news for you that’s just coming across the wires. It’s being reported by multiple blogs that Apple is working on a 15-inch MacBook Air ultra-thin laptop. Obviously, Apple only currently offers an 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air and there certainly are a few Mac fans out there who want a bigger ultrathin laptop from Apple.

This report was first reported by MacRumors, who said that they weren’t sure if the new 15-inch MacBook Air would be called an Air or MacBook Pro. It’s been rumored for a long time that the MacBook Pro would start inheriting some of the features of the ultra-thin MacBook Airs, like the super thin profile, lack of a disc drive and use of a solid-state drive.

Who knows about how the timing will work, as Apple just released new 11 and 13-inch MacBook Airs. The new 11-inch model starts at $999, effectively making it the new mainstream entry-level Apple laptop.

As many others as noted, this rumor comes after Intel’s Ultrabook initiative was announced. Chipmaker Intel  has unveiled a new style of ultra-thin laptops dubbed Ultrabook which they hope that PC manufacturers will adapt. PC manufacturers allegedly haven’t shown much interest in the new format, so Intel is reportedly offering them sums of money to jump onboard. Maybe the new entry-level priced MacBook Air and the rumors of a 15-inch will change interest in the market.
