Oracle Told By Judge To Rethink Claims Against Google [Judge Suggests Oracle Rethink Damages Amount And Broad Case Against Android]
The battle between Oracle and Google wages on as Oracle seemingly loses another battle. A judge in the case is telling Oracle that the amount of damages and the focus of the lawsuit ought to be rethought. Will Oracle take the judge’s advice and overhaul their case against Google?

Oracle has been in quite the ugly court battle with Google over patent and copyright infringements. Google says the lawsuit is a direct attack against the open-source community but Oracle doesn’t see it that way.
The latest in the saga is that a judge is suggesting the Oracle goes back to the drawing board. First, he’s telling them that instead of $2.6 billion in damages, they ought to use a figure closer to $100 million as a starting point. What a blow, right? To add insult to injury, the judge also believes Oracle ought to turn its focus from all of Android to very specific infringements.
Google isn’t that new to copyright confusion what with their faux pas concerning Google Books and even the Linux code used for Android. Google seems to have a reputation now of repeatedly getting into copyright debacles but perhaps they’re big enough to constantly come out unscathed.
