iPhone 4S/5 Release Date: Apple Stores Also Hiring For Mid-September [Apple Stores Looking For More Employees In August & September, Is It For The Next iPhone Or Just For The Back To School Season?]

For a while now, the iPhone 5 has been rumored to be coming in September. That’s a change from the usual June/July that the new iPhone comes out in and the change has even hurt Apple’s stock price a little. Earlier today, my colleague here Steve Andersen told you about how AT&T stores were increasing staffing in September, possibly for the iPhone 5 launch. Now, it’s being reported that Apple Stores are increasing their staffing at the same time. Uh-oh.

An inside source has told the website MacRumors that Apple Stores are also planning for increased staffing needs. Some store managers are emailing former employees and asking them to return on a part-time basis from August 15 to September 15. This is par for the course regarding what we see from Apple Stores when a new product is coming out. Asking former employees (who left on good terms) to come back is one, and denying employee requests for time off is another.

As some folks have pointed out, this is also “back to school time” in most of the Western world, so it’s possible that Apple is just planning to sell a ton of MacBooks and iPads to young students as they head back to school. But, if you believe the reports that AT&T is also increasing their staffing needs for this timeframe, it makes sense that we might be seeing Apple release the new iPhone in early September, as expected for a few months now.

We’ve been reporting on and collecting a ton of rumors and reports about the upcoming iPhone, whether it be called the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 or whatever. Check them out here.
