BlackBerry 9810 Torch 2 & BlackBerry Touch/Volt 9860 Press Pictures Leaked [New BlackBerry Handsets Star in Shiny New Press Photos; Release Dates Still Not Available]

We’ve seen a bunch of BlackBerry rumors over the last few days, from the leaked Verizon BlackBerry Torch 9860 to the tutorial videos starring the BlackBerry Bold 9790 but that doesn’t mean RIM’s mobile business is ready to make an impressive comeback.

In fact just earlier today we heard RIM is on a firing spree, which will affect 2,000 employees and all that is happening while both Apple and Samsung, two major competitors, are having great quarters. So the leaked press images of the BlackBerry 9810 Torch 2 and BlackBerry Touch 9860 will surely not help RIM save any face or gain any market share. And it will be quite some time until these two new handsets hit stores and attempt to fight the iPhone and Android out in the open.

We’ll notice that the Touch/Volt 9860 has the same code of the Torch 9860, which we reported on before, and considering that the Torch 2’s code is 9810 we will assume that previous rumors were wrong when including the 9860 in the Torch family. The handset is most likely a touch-only device that could be placed in the Storm family of BlackBerry phones.

The press images look pretty real, although we could always be looking at fake ones, and, while they’re available today, they don’t come with extra details like full specs and features or pricing and release dates.

The Torch 2 and the Touch/Volt are said to hit various carriers in the future, so they won’t be AT&T and Verizon, respectively, exclusives, like their direct predecessors. Both handsets are rumored to arrive in August, so in case you happen to be a huge BlackBerry fan then you’ll want to save some cash to purchase either the slider or the touchscreen-only smartphone later this summer.
