3D Smartphone Market Is Still Weak As LG Releases Their First 3D Android Model

LG Is Releasing The Thrill 4G As Its First 3D Smartphone While The Market For 3D Is Questionable

3D has been hitting the market pretty big in the last year or so with large 3D television sets filling up tech shows and the like. HTC released the first 3D Android phone when it gave us the HTC Evo 3D. Now LG is releasing their own 3D Android phone and calling it the Thrill 4G. The question is whether or not we are ready for all this 3D pizzazz.

3D sure looks cool and really can add to the media experience.  Why then is the market having such a hard time accepting it?  First, many televisions require expensive glasses in order to view the programming properly.  Also, there are reports that the 3D displays on the smartphones actually cause the user discomfort.  In fact, there has even been studies released stating that 3D devices, including televisions and phones, can actually hurt your eyes and brain.

LG is pushing their new phone really hard but we have yet to see how this relatively new technology will do in the market and in the research studies.

Personally, I don’t see the point to a phone being 3D.  Watching television and movies on a screen that small is painful enough.
