iPhone Facebook Users Deeply Upset With Recent Update
If you’re using Facebook on your iPhone, there’s a pretty fair chance that you’ve noticed something like this going on lately. A number of users are reporting issues with their newest Facebook update on their iPhones, and it’s getting in the way of the experience.

The latest update came out back around June 29th, but instead of fixing many of the various bugs, it seems to have instead spawned a variety of them. In fact, things are getting so bad out there that, at last report, around 19,000 reviews have come in at one star. The current average, if I’m reading the iTunes entry correctly, is two stars, and that from over 24,000 reviews.
So what are the problems here, prompting some users to offer up comments like “Quit making it worse!”? So far, users have complained of a panoply of problems, including chat modes that don’t work and outright crashes and freezes.
Facebook’s promised response of an update, which was said to land yesterday, has not yet materialized either, leaving more than a few users wondering just what was going on. And while Facebook itself says the update is still coming, more than a few wonder just how much Facebook actually wants to work with Apple in the first place. You remember hearing previously about the so-called Project Spartan, which may well serve as a competitor to Apple’s vaunted App Store. That would leave Apple and Facebook likely somewhat at loggerheads, and may well serve to explain why Facebook’s Apple presence is, well, somewhat substandard.
And it probably doesn’t help that, at last report, Facebook has just one engineer working full-time on its iPhone app.
This by itself may not be such a problem, but considering the huge amount of headway that Google+ is making, it’s posing quite the issue indeed for Facebook. Facebook needs all its systems running front and center just to repel Google’s massive gains, lest Facebook end up the next MySpace…and without the big buyout offer first.
So what do you guys think here? Will Facebook get it together? Is its buggy iPhone app the beginning of the end? Are you having troubles with Facebook on your own iPhone? No matter how you feel about this, we love hearing from you, so head on down to the comments section and tell us what you think!
