Samsung Galaxy S II 4G Now Available in Canada

We had already received confirmation from several Canadian carriers in regards to their plans to launch the Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. And well, the good news is that as of this morning both Bell and Virgin Mobile have the handset in their available device category.

That being said, the handset has been dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G with both carriers and in addition to the same name — they each have the same pricing. Well, the same if you can discount the fact that it is off by four cents. The handset is priced at $169.95 with Bell and $169.99 with Virgin Mobile.

In addition, those choosing Bell have the option to go with a one year or two year agreement which comes priced at $574.95 and $549.95 respectively. And both carriers offer the option for an outright no contract purchase. But that being the case, expect to pay just shy of $600.

Otherwise, as many readers of the TFTS community have likely been paying attention to this handset, we suspect that many of you are already familiar with the specs. Nonetheless, a brief recap should still be in order. The Galaxy S II 4G features a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, 2 megapixel front facing camera and an 8 megapixel rear facing camera with 1080p video recording.

And just like that, another wait and another series of release date and pricing rumors have been put to rest. But perhaps more important, those already on, or those willing to switch to either Virgin Mobile or Bell have another solid Android smartphone to choose from. Plus, this release has probably made quite a few from the US a bit jealous, after all, we are stil waiting on word from a carrier as to when it will be available here.
