Fujitsu F-07C Windows 7 Phone to Launch in Japan
We earlier write about Fujitsu’s plan to release a phone that runs Windows 7. Yes, you read that right. Not WP7, but rather the full Windows 7 implementation. Fujitsu has just announced that this smartphone will be released over the weekend.

Fujitsu’s F-07C smartphone will actually come with two operating systems: Symbian and Windows 7 Home Premium. In Windows mode, the phone can run on battery power in just about two hours. That’s not too much for a smartphone, but considering the F-07C runs a desktop operating system and can run Internet Explorer 9, Windows Media Player and Microsoft Silverlight, that’s just about the same battery performance you can get on a netbook with a small battery.
If you don’t need the processing power, the F-07C has a phone mode, which gives you 6 hours of talk time or 600 hours of standby time in a single charge.
The Fujitsu F-07C comes with the following features:
- Intel Atom Z600 processor running at 1.2 GHz
- QWERTY keyboard
- Trackball and mouse button
- 4-inch capacitive touchscreen running at 1024×600 pixels
- 1GB RAM
- 32GB storage
- 5.1 megapixel camera
If you ask us, the Fujitsu F-07C looks like one of those ultraportable Windows machines from old. Personally, I’d rather use a mobile OS for a smartphone, and switch to my notebook or netbook if I actually need to run Windows. But if you want the best of both worlds, then this Fujitsu might just make the grade. You can even connect a mouse, keyboard and display through the phone’s USB and HDMI ports. How’s that for portable computing?
NTT DoCoMo will release the Fujitsu F-07C by July 23 with a price of about $860.
