Amazon Prime Users Will Soon Be Able To Watch CBS Content

Amazon & CBS Strike Non-Exclusive Agreement, Means 2,000 New Episodes For Amazon Prime Instant Streaming Viewers

In the battle of having more content available for instant streaming, Amazon and CBS have announced a new agreement. This latest comes as a non-exclusive agreement, which in this case means that those using Netflix instant streaming will already be familiar with this content.

That said, while Netflix may have beat Amazon Prime in terms of this CBS content — it is still nice to see the Amazon instant viewing library growing. And perhaps the most important part here — this deal does not include any new in-season content.

“Our new deal with CBS makes Amazon Prime even better for customers,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com CEO. “We’re excited to add thousands of popular CBS programs to our already great selection, all of which stream at no additional cost to Amazon Prime members.”

The content is said to be coming available “starting this summer” and will grow to 2,000 episodes. And for those wondering, that 2,000 will bring the running total to around 8,000 movies and television shows.

The CBS content includes favorites such as “The Tudors,” “Numb3rs” and “Medium,” as well as the complete “Star Trek” franchise, “Frasier” and “Cheers.”  All said and done, it is nice to see Amazon Prime growing their collection, but perhaps a bit more important is how you can get to watch.

For those not as familiar with this offering, it comes as an add-on to the Amazon Prime service. The key feature of Amazon Prime is free two-day shipping for all of your Amazon purchases as well as one-day shipping for $3.99 (per item). And lastly, while students can sometimes pick this up a bit cheaper, the Amazon Prime membership will set you back $79 per year.

Bottom line, if you were looking for another way (aside from Netflix) to watch some older CBS content than Amazon Prime may be an option to consider.
