HTC Status Now Available With AT&T

AT&T Begins Shipping The Facebook Friendly HTC Status Smartphone, Comes Priced As Expected At $49.99

AT&T did a pretty good job at announcing the details for the HTC Status. After all, they told us all that the handset was going to be coming available, and then later let us all know when it was available for pre-orders. And well, coming just as the scheduled said — the handset is now officially available for sale.

Bottom line, those who are curious about the HTC Status can now visit an AT&T retail location and check out the handset in person. Or for that matter, those interested can head to their local store or visit the AT&T website and make a purchase.

The Status comes priced (as we had expected) at $49.99, which comes along with a two year agreement. That being said, the Status may not be the highest spec’d Android device in AT&T’s lineup, however there are a few things that it has going for it.

To begin with, the Status is shipping with Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, which means at least for a little while it will have the latest and greatest. Though, that does come with a warning, we suspect that given the tight integration with Facebook, any future updates may come slower than one would hope. But shifting back to the positive, this handset does come with a nice form factor that should make those who often text and/or email happy — it has a full hardware QWERTY keyboard — and its not a slider design.

Otherwise, some of the other features of the Status include a 2.6 inch (480 x 320) capacitive touchscreen display, 800MHz processor, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash, HSPA+, Wi-Fi Bluetooth 3.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS, microSD card slot, 1250 mAh battery and the Facebook button for easy sharing. In addition, the Status measures in at 4.49 x 2.54 x 0.42 inches, weighs in at 4.32 ounces and will ship with a 2GB microSD card.
