Apple Claims Back Chunk of Development Pie from Android
Google Android took a beating from Apple on the second quarter of 2011 as its developer support saw a dip in number. According to a study by Flurry Analytics, Android’s developer shares went from 36% back in the first quarter down to 28% on the second quarter.

Apple always had the bigger percentage of developer support. Just last week, Apple revealed to the public that App Store now houses more than 425,000 apps. In spite of this, developer support for the Android demonstrated a steady and continuous growth due to its open source nature and the increasing number of Android devices in the market today. Until now, that is.

Charles Newark-French of Flurry says this shift in numbers could be attributed to a couple of events – the iPhone’s release on Verizon, and the iPad 2 launch. Nevertheless, considering Android activation reached a new high of 550,000 per day, it’s not unlikely for the OS to regain its lost developer shares before the year ends.
