Apple iOS 5 to Have Panoramic Camera Functionality
While Apple gives you access to several apps that can take panoramic shots, it seems the upcoming iOS 5 will come with built-in panoramic capability, as revealed in the source code.

Apple has previously updated its cameras with HDR, red-eye correction, crop and rotation, among other features. However, for taking panoramic shots, you would have to download third-party iOS applications for your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Sneak peeks at the Apple iOS 5 source code reveals, however, that this functionality might come built-into the OS once released.
Apple has actually included this feature in earlier builds of iOS5, but the developers are further improving on the UI, which means there is a high likelihood that this will be a standard feature in the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch once it’s finally released to market. A built-in panoramic feature would, of course, have the potential to run third-party app developers out of business, especially those that charge a few dollars for their app. These would likely have to add new features to justify their cost.
