Apple’s Next LED Cinema Display Models to Sport Thunderbolt Support
Apple doesn’t usually leak details about its upcoming products, or at least the rumors and leaks that keep popping up all over the web regarding future Apple gadgets and software updates can’t really be proved to be the result of an intentional, covert, Apple buzz-building marketing tactic.

But today we have a leak from Apple that suggests that the upcoming Cinema Display will include Thunderbolt I/O support. Sure, that’s nothing major, considering that we’re looking at a simple display; what else could it really surprise us with? As for the Thunderbolt connectivity, I guess that’s pretty much something that most people that are passionate about tech would expect from Apple. The Thunderbolt ultra-fast connectivity option has been launched this year by Apple as part of the 2011 MacBook Pro refresh, and then the 2011 iMacs came with the same feature on board. Furthermore we expect the 2011 MacBook Air, Mac Pro and Mac Mini to also offer Thunderbolt support, and today’s LED Cinema Display pretty much confirms that the new Air, Pro and Mini will come with that fast Thunderbolt port on board.

It’s really not rocket science to foresee that Apple’s 2011 “stupid” monitors, the LED Cinema Displays, would come with Thunderbolt support. You know, just in case a 2011 Apple notebook and/or desktop user decides to go for some extra screen real estate by adding a new Cinema Display to their home or work office setup.

Further proof that we’re looking at the next LED Cinema Display is the product name, MC914, which was though to be a new MacBook, according to some of the recent Apple product names we saw get leaked and the fact that these images feature OS X Lion (see that desktop background) as well.

Unfortunately, while Apple may have published, by mistake, a bunch of images hinting at Thunderbolt support for the new LED Cinema Display, we don’t have launch dates and prices for Apple’s 2011 display refresh, so stick around for more news regarding Apple’s next-gen products, as next week may be pretty hot from that point of view.
