Virgin Mobile Beyond Talk Calling/Data Plans Will Be Updated On July 20th

Virgin Mobile Announces Beyond Talk Plan Changes, Price Will Be Dropping For Unlimited Users & BlackBerry Users

We mentioned earlier in the week that Virgin Mobile was expected to change up some of their calling/data plans. And well, it looks like those changes have since been confirmed by the carrier. The changes come with some good news and some bad news and for better or worse, they will go into effect on July 20th.

That being said, the for better or for worse portion will vary depending on which plan you considering subscribing to. In short and at risk of offering a spoiler here, those consider the higher end plan and those considering a BlackBerry should come out smiling. Everyone else, be prepared to shell out a few more bucks each month.

With that, here are the details as to how the Beyond Talk plans will look come July 20th;

  • 300 anytime minutes and unlimited messaging and data — $35
  • 1200 anytime minutes and unlimited messaging and data — $45
  • Unlimited anytime minutes and unlimited messaging and data — $55

And for those looking for the difference, the 300 minute plan was $25, the 1200 minute plan was $40 and the unlimited minute plan was $60. In other words, the two lower plans have increased in price with the lowest going up $10 per month and the middle going up $5 per month.

The good news, the unlimited plan actually dropped from $60, which means a savings of $5 per month. Moving onto the good news for BlackBerry users, the BlackBerry Bolt-On (which is required) has dropped from $10 down to $0.

Lastly, those who are current Virgin Mobile customers (as of July 19th) will be able to keep their plans as they currently are. According to the details we received from Virgin Mobile;

“Existing Beyond Talk Virgin Mobile customers as of July 19 can keep their current plan pricing as long as they don’t let their account expire, and they can upgrade to new devices without incurring additional costs.”

That said, on the flip side, we hope they don’t make any BlackBerry or unlimited minute users continue to pay the higher price or we suspect more than a few will let their plan ‘expire’ in an effort to save a few bucks each month.
