Amazon Tablet to be Launched October?
It’s going to be an exciting holiday season this year, as brands and manufacturers launch their new Android tablets. Amazon will be joining the fray, and is said to have an October launch date for its own portable computer.

Amazon was rumored to be planning a release by August or September, but from what sources are saying, it’s likely that the company will be able to release its Android tablet by October this year. Amazon has already been shopping for parts and suppliers, but there is still one thing that the company has to decide on, which is how to market the tablet. Once the tablet launches, there is a likelihood that it will cannibalize sales of Amazon’s own Kindle. So, will it be more of an e-book reader? Or a multimedia device?
As for features, it seems Amazon is just trying to get to market as soon as possible. The tablet will have a 9-inch touchscreen and no camera. The current design has been outsourced, but Amazon plans to release a second version — possibly with a camera and other bells and whistles — by next year (sounds familiar?). The company is likely to highlight the use of its own AppStore, as it hopes for the tablet to be a complementary product to its business of selling and renting out of books and other media.
Will the Amazon tablet be a hit like the iPad? We’ll find out in a few months.
