Bethesda and Arkane Studios Reveal Dishonored
Most of Bethesda’s attention may be on Skyrim at the moment, but they’ve still got the manpower to publish a handful of upcoming games like id’s Rage and Human Head’s Prey 2. Today they added one more game to that list, revealing to Game Informer that they’re publishing what’s next for Arkane Studios as well: a first-person stealth/action-adventure game called Dishonored.

As with all Game Informer cover reveals, you’re going to have to pick up the magazine to get all of the details, but the ones that were shared are enough to get any FPS fan excited about this game. First off, Bethesda and Arkane have brought some big talent in to work on this project, namely Harvey Smith, one of the lead designers of both Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Invisible War, and Viktor Antonov, the man behind Half-Life 2‘s City 17.
While making sure that most of the info remains a secret for the moment, GI attempted to explain their time with the game and the options you’ll have as the protagonist of Dishonored. For instance, the game will allow you to lay traps and kill those who stand in your way, instead of, say, infiltrating a compound and staying completely hidden while you carry out your objective. Of course, you can do that do, and actually it sounds like there will be a multitude of ways to do… well, whatever it is you’re supposed to be doing.
GI also says that Arkane’s including a morality system that changes the world around you, but instead of your morality being decided by what you say like in Mass Effect, who you are is more determined by what you do, like in Fable or Fallout 3.
Despite the details GI decided to share early, there’s still a pretty thick veil surrounding Dishonored. There’ll be more to share next week, and when more information is released, you can find it right here at TFTS.
