Apple iOS App Store Tops 15 Billion Downloads
We seen a few bits and pieces in regards to the iOS App Store as of late. Of which, one of those bits was how the App Store was home to 100,000 iPad specific apps. Well, it looks like Apple has offered up their own iOS App Store update and confirmed that number as well as added a few others.

And what Apple press release would not be complete without a happy sounding quote from someone high up in the company. In this case, that quote comes from Philip Schiller, who is the senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing;
“In just three years, the revolutionary App Store has grown to become the most exciting and successful software marketplace the world has ever seen,”
But moving past that, the iOS App Store is now home to more than 425,000 apps and being used by more than 200 million iOS users. And how many apps are those users downloading — more than 15 billion so far. A few other small tidbits include that there are the 100,000 specific for the iPad as well as that the iOS App Store is now available for users in more than 90 countries.
Otherwise, on the flip side of iOS users downloading apps, the developers that are submitting them seem to be doing pretty well. Or probably more accurately, at least some of them are doing well. Either way though, according to Apple, they have currently paid out more than $2.5 billion. Remember, that is just the 30 percent that Apple pays out — just think how much Apple has made.
With that, it seems the portion that triggered the need for this press release was the 15 billion app download mark. Moving forward, I suspect we will also see something offered up when Apple reaches the 500,000 available app level. We just have to wonder, with as fast as the iOS App Store seems to be growing, when will that news arrive, maybe in a few months time.
