Steve Jobs Authorized Biography Gets Renamed

iSteve To Get New Name Before Release, The Old Name Was Not Said To Be Favored By Author Walter Isaacson, Still Coming In March 2012

Steve Jobs is a notoriously private man, and it’s known that he wasn’t too fond of the two unauthorized biographies of his life that have already been published. Earlier this year, Steve shocked the tech world when he gave his support to an authorized biography, to be published by Simon & Schuster and to be written by former Time Magazine editor and famed biography author Walter Isaacson. However, the title of the book is changing slightly.

This was the previous title of the book:

iSteve: The Book of Jobs

This is the new title:

Steve Jobs

Or, more specifically, “Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson”. According to reports, the old title was picked by Simon & Schuster and author Isaacson was said not to be too fond of the title. And let’s be honest, it’s a crap title. Putting “i” before something Apple related? A bit trope.  The book is so far along to the point that Amazon has even started accepting pre-orders for the book, which is due March of 2012 with a MSRP of $18.

As I alluded to earlier, there is a bit of a backstory between Jobs and biographies. There have been two unauthorized ones published about the cryptic man who’s revered as a tech and business genius by man. One of them (iCon: Steve Jobs) was published by Wiley & Sons, and that came back to bite the publisher as Apple banned their books from Apple Stores after that. That may have hurt Wiley badly, as a number of their books are tech self-help books (“Teach Yourself Objective-C!” and things like that).

Are you planning on picking up this Steve Jobs biography? Do you like the new title?
