How to JailbreakMe 3.0 Jailbreak Tutorial
A little earlier today the iOS jailbreak community was pleasantly surprised with the official release of JailbreakMe 3.0, a very easy and fast jailbreak tool ready to help you jailbreak any iDevice running iOS 4.3.3, and, most notably, the iPad 2, which wasn’t jailbreakable up until now. And after the break you’ll have a complete step-by-step tutorial on how to jailbreak your iDevice.

What you need:
- iDevice: iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G
- iOS 4.3.3 (either already installed on your iDevice, or downloaded via iTunes on your computer and about to be installed)
- Active Internet connection
- computer (just in case you need to upgrade your iOS device to iOS 4.3.3 first)
Here are the steps you need to follow to jailbreak any of the iDevices mentioned above:
1) Make sure you have iOS 4.3.3 installed on your device (Go to Settings > General > About > Version to verify it). In case you don’t have it installed then you’ll have to update to iOS 4.3.3 inside iTunes. At this point you may want to save your SHSH blobs in case you plan to revert to any iOS version prior to iOS 4.3.3 (that means having an iDevice that’s already jailbroken using other means – therefore not an iPad 2)
2) Make sure you have an active Internet connection, either via 3G or better or via Wi-Fi which will be required to complete the jailbreak.
3) Start Safari and point your device to JailbreakMe.com (see screenshot above)
4) Press “Free” (in the screenshot above) and then press “Install” (see screenshot below)

5) Cydia installs itself on the iDevice of your choosing, and the process is pretty fast, certainly a lot faster than other jailbreak tools (see screenshots below – the Cydia icon appears and installs on the device just like a regular iOS app) As you can see the device is not turned off during the duration of this process. That’s how I was able to take screenshots of the whole jailbreak process.

6) That’s it, Cydia is now installed and your iDevice is jailbroken, iPad 2 included, and you can run it. (see screenshot below). You’ll be invited to choose what kind of user you are.

7) Cydia is fully loaded and you can browse through the resources it has to offer after waiting for it to be updated.

Apple is very likely to patch this jailbreak exploit with a future iOS update, either iOS 4.3.4 or iOS 5.0. That will basically affect iPad 2 users since all the other devices can be jailbroken, at least the tethered way, for life, with a bunch of other iOS jailbreak tools, no matter what iOS version they would be running. Therefore make sure you don’t update your iPad 2 to any other iOS version until knowing for a fact that the next iOS version can also be jailbroken.
As for those of you that want to unlock your iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, chances are that you are already using an unlocked device so you don’t really need JailbreakMe 3.0 to jailbreak it. In case you’re just considering unlocking your iPhone, make sure your handset’s baseband is supported by current unlock tools and make sure you preserve it before updating the phone to iOS 4.3.3 (and therefore before using JailbreakMe 3.0).
Last, but not least, we’ll advise you that while we’re ready to help you through the jailbreak procedure with detailed instructions we’re not telling you that you have to do it. In case you want to jailbreak, that’s entirely up to you and you should be ready to accept any consequences. You should also know that reverting back to a regular, jailed, state is available by simply restoring your device to factory settings. Also worth noting is that we’ll strongly advise against using any jailbreak tool to use pirated apps, which is something we told you before.
Let us know how JailbreakMe 3.0 works for you, in case you did go for the jailbreak, and we’re especially interested to hear back from iPad 2 owners. And remember to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and via our feed for more iOS jailbreak news!

Has anyone tried it on an ipod touch 3rd gen 32gb with ios 4.3.2
I used it and it almost bricked the phone. I had to restore twice and then rejailbreak it… and that’s where i’m currently at. =\ Let’s see if it works this time
Comex is supposed to fix current bugs, so I can only say that you should try again later. As always there’s a chance of phone-bricking with such jailbreak attempts. Worst case scenario you restore and use a different tool.
