Skype Rolls-Out Version 5.2 For The Mac

Skype seems to have been getting more than their fair share of attention as of late. Granted, the news has not been over the top exciting, however it has been a nice mix of actual releases and rumored releases. And just to recap, Skype rolled out version 5.5 beta for Windows and version 2.0.0.45 for Android.

Plus, there is the expectation that Skype will be coming to the iPad shortly and possibly even to Facebook. And given the Skype news has covered the Windows, iOS, Android and even social networking — it seems prime for some Mac related news.

That said, enter the latest, Skype 5.2 for Mac. Now keep in mind, this is not a huge update in terms of new features, however it does have a few that should make some want to update sooner rather than later.

According to the Skype website, the new features found in 5.2 for the Mac include group screen sharing and a call control bar — with video. In terms of breaking these down a bit further, here is how they are described;

Show presentations, photos and more by sharing your computer screen with everyone on the call. You stay in control of what they see.

Now you don’ t need to switch back to full-screen Skype to carry on a video call. Just minimize Skype and you can still see the person you’re talking to – while you also work on your computer.

With that, the one drawback here, the group screen sharing does require a Skype Premium subscription which will set you back as low as €5.99 per month (assuming a 12 month subscription) or €3.49 for a day pass.
