Samsung Galaxy S II Already Sold in 3 Million Units
The Samsung Galaxy S II, or one of the handsets that’s gotten Apple so mad at Samsung, is becoming fast one of the best-sold smartphones ever created by the South Korean manufacturer. Samsung wants to sell 10 million Galaxy S II units by the end of the year, a goal we’ve seen achieved back in 2010 for the original Galaxy S too, and the company may very well sell a lot more Galaxy S II handsets by the end of the year.

Samsung has already managed to sell over 3 million units in just 55 days since being launched, which is 30 days faster than it took the original Galaxy S to reach the same number. The performance is all the more laudable considering that the U.S. and Canadian markets are yet to receive Galaxy S II flavors. Last year Samsung sold plenty of Galaxy S units in the USA alone (where five carriers had their own Galaxy S version) and we’re counting on a similar performance for the Galaxy S II once it reaches U.S. stores later this year.
We’re still not ready to share with you release dates for the U.S. Galaxy S II versions since no U.S. carrier has announced such details yet. Rumors do suggest that at least Verizon, Sprint and AT&T are getting ready to sell the Galaxy S II at some point later this year and we wouldn’t be surprised to see T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular also join them in the coming months.
Speaking about these coming months, the Galaxy S II will get a powerful competitor by the end of the summer, if current rumors are to be believed, namely the iPhone 4S/5, which, unlike its predecessors, is already taking its time to hit stores.
