Acer has promised to upgrade its Iconia Tab A500 to the latest Android version, and units are supposed to be shipping out with 3.1 pre-loaded. The update is now rolling out to Iconia users in certain countries. Are you getting your upgrade now?
Aside from the promised 3.1 update, Acer has likewise said they will ship Iconia Tab A500 units with Android Honeycomb 3.1 preloaded by June, but that has not actually happened. This time around, those with Iconia Tab A500 units will get a phased rollout of the 3.1 update, starting today in Germany.
Android Honeycomb 3.1 comes with major improvements, including better support for hardware acceleration, improved application switcher, and resizable home-screen widgets, among other changes. Some builds meant for the Iconia Tab A500 have been leaked, but if you want to go get the official update, here’s your chance. No word on when Acer plans to roll out the update to the US and other regions, though, but with the official update underway, Iconia Tab A500 users won’t have to wait long.

Received the update on the 4th of July! Awesome! I now have access to Google’s excellent Movies app and many other new features. Thank you Acer and Google!
Very poor communication from Acer on this. Nothing anywhere on web site of when to expect. This baby is getting sold on Craigslist. ASUS transformer is what is should have got and this confirms. Acer was a month behind and I still don’t have update.
This is getting ridiculous, I agree with the comment above that we should receive this update at least a month ago. I bought this product in hopes that I would’ve been able to receive updates when they were supposed to be out. Looks like ill be buying Asus next.
I received my update to 3.1 today and I live in Las Vegas. I bought my iconia the day it came out so maybe it’s an early build version?
