Barnes & Noble Announces Special Offer For Non-Nook Users [Have An Kindle, Kobo Or Other Ereader, Upgrade It To A Nook In A Barnes & Noble Retail Store & Get $315 Worth Of Free Books To Read]
It appears as if Barnes & Noble is on quest to try and convert some ebook readers over to the Nook. The news has arrived this morning and will go into effect as of tomorrow July 1st — and could mean up to 30 free books (noted as being valued at $315) for those who bring their current ereader into a Barnes & Noble retail store and “upgrade” to a Nook reader.

And just to clarify, it does not appear as if you need to actually give up your old ereader. According to the wording in the press release, you have to “show” it.
“Beginning Friday, while supplies last, customers will receive a free, 2GB microSD card loaded with 30 NOOK Books – from cooking and lifestyle to classics and reference –when they show a bookseller their old device and purchase the NOOK reader that best suits them.”
Of course, that little tidbit brings up another little catch, the titles appear to be pre-selected, which means there may or may not be anything that you want to actually read. Nonetheless, if you have been considering the purchase of a Nook, this sounds like a good time to react and make a purchase.
In terms of the device, that can be the recently announced Nook Simple Touch Reader or the Nook Color. Bottom line, this may be an attractive offer, however for those say, switching from the Kindle — remember if you make the move to the Nook you are also ditching your current reading library.
With that, the free tiles are said to include The Good Housekeeping Cookbook, Cristina Ferrare’s Big Bowl of Love, Creating Your Best Life, Glory in the Fall: The Greatest Moments in World Series History, 21st Century Crossword Puzzle Dictionary, My Boyfriend Wrote a Book About Me, Secret Garden, Robinson Crusoe and others.
And lastly, the offer was noted as being for a limited time and beginning on July 1st, however it made no mention as to when it will end.
