Amazon Tablet vs iPad 2: One of Them Can’t Get Enough Parts
Amazon is definitely working on a tablet of its own, and considering the popularity of the Kindle, also an Amazon original product, and the efforts Amazon makes when it comes to tablet-ready content (music, movies, apps and eBooks) it would be stupid not to try to come up with an iPad 2 rival.

In fact the word on Chinese streets is that Amazon is already looking for tablet parts (touch panels in particularly) as it plans to ship no less than 4 million tablets by the end of the year. But that’s not an easy task, even for a giant like Amazon as Apple is said to have increased iPad 2 production which means its suppliers may not be able to also take on board Amazon’s business.
Amazon contacted TPK Holdings, Wintek, HannStar Display and J Touch, and while we have no confirmed details about such negotiations, the first two companies mentioned here are said to be rather likely to refuse Amazon since they’re also providing touch panels for Apple. And Cupertino may need more and more modules in the following quarters, which means TPK Holdings, Wintek, and others, may not be able to accommodate Apple rivals, Amazon included, due to increased production.
As for the tablet or tablets Amazon is getting ready to launch, well, we have no idea what these devices will have to offer. It’s more than obvious we’re looking at Android tablets, since Amazon has already started to sell Android apps in the Appstore, but other than that we can’t offer you anymore details.
But let’s hear it from potential Android tablet customers, shall we? Would you guys be interested in buying one of the first Amazon tablets, or have you already purchased your Android tablet this year?
