Samsung webOS Phone Coming Soon? [HP Confirms They're In Talks With Other Manufacturers To License webOS, All Fingers Points Towards Samsung Being The Culprit]
Previously, we had heard from HP CEO Leo Apotheker that HP would be willing to talk with other manufacturers about licensing webOS to them so they can create webOS tablets and phones. Now, it’s being reported that Samsung is in talks with HP to do just that, and they may be the first non-Palm/HP company to produce a webOS device.

While Palm’s webOS devices never tore up the sales’ charts, the operating system is critically acclaimed and has a big following among some fans. webOS is going through a Renaissance with HP, as the company is coming out with new phones and a tablet, but it looks like we could see other companies coming out with webOS devices.
Bloomberg reports that at a conference in Beijing, HP CEO Leo Apotheker let it be known that they were in talks with a company to license webOS to them, although he didn’t provide details. That comment is in addition to Apotheker’s earlier comment from a few weeks back that they would not be opposed to licensing webOS.
Bloomberg went on to report that they’ve learned that the company in question who’s talking to HP about licensing HP is, in fact, Samsung. Samsung has shown they’re quick to adapt to new operating systems. The company made Symbian phones, Windows Mobile phones, now Android phones, and they have their own OS, Bada, coming as well. They’re one of the most software-agnostic manufacturers out there, so if anybody would license webOS, it would be them.
