MSI Shows Off New CX480 Laptop, But No Pricing [MSI Offers Up The CX480, A New Laptop With Nice Looks, Decent Specs, And A Big Question Mark For A Price Tag]

MSI’s got a new laptop coming our way in the not too distant future, folks, though you may want to bring your checkbook ahead of this one’s release as one of the most important details of all is as yet unclear. It’s the CX480, and it looks good and packs plenty of solid stats in play, but they’re not yet telling anyone how much it actually costs.

The MSI CX480, which got some face time out at the Computex show not so long ago, is an impressively designed piece of brushed metal hardware that’s packing your choice of an Intel Core i3-2310M or Intel Core i5-2410M processor. You’ll also get an Nvidia GeForce 520M graphics card with a full gig of memory, a hard drive with sizes starting at 320 gig and going up to 640 gig, a USB 3.0 port (it’s being called optional, though, so you may not get one without a bump in price), an HDMI output, a VGA output, a battery life of around 8.5 hours (along with some interesting power management systems), a one-button backup system, and all of this working on a 14 inch display.

Not too shabby, I’d say, and as long as they can keep the prices down (I’d say under $700 would be a fine entry point for this one), they might do some fairly brisk business. It’s a little distressing that they haven’t announced a price for it on their own, but all things considered, it doesn’t look like a bad piece of hardware, if a bit on the simple side.

They’re calling it “summery” in style, so you can probably look for these to actually hit stores by the time summer is over–kind of misses the point to put out a “summery” laptop in the depths of winter–as there’s the ever-present shadow of Christmas shopping season steadily approaching.
