Jitterbug Creators Announce MedCoach iPhone App With "Shake For Help"

MedCoach iPhone App Comes Available, Acts As A Medication Reminder & Features 24/7 Access to Live Personal Assistance

While it can be a good phone for the right person, the name Jitterbug often seems to be mentioned in jest. And without going all that far into detail as to the comments that I have heard, the creators of the Jitterbug have recently announced (and released) an iPhone app. The app is called MedCoach, it is currently available in the iOS App Store and comes as a free download. MedCoach requires iOS 4.2 or later and has been released at version 1.0.

That being said, as the name seems to imply, the app is used as a medication coach, and perhaps a little more important — designed to help make sure you never miss another medication.

“This easy-to-use app helps you remember to take the right medications, at the right time – every day. Stay on schedule with your medication regimen and even connect to your pharmacy to refill your prescriptions automatically. Whether you take multiple medications, or just want to remember your daily aspirin, MedCoach will assist you.”

Some of the features include getting reminders, keeping track of what you have taken and even the ability to call for help by shaking. Yup, “Shake for Help” is one of the features.

  • It’s easy to create your personal medication schedule to make sure that you’re taking your medications at the right time – every time!
  • Receive helpful reminders and alerts when it’s time to take your medications
  • Keep a log of your personal medication history (when you took your meds), and share it with your doctors and pharmacists
  • Easily connect to your pharmacy when it’s time to refill your prescriptions
  • View a history of your daily medication usage
  • A helpful medication lookup feature that accesses the First DataBank national drug database will help you select your medication and dosage
  • “Shake for Help™” is a handy tool to always get an answer when you need one – just shake your phone at any time, and help will appear!
  • Should you ever need more help, you can quickly email GreatCall’s customer care team
  • The interactive and easy-to-use interface provides effortless navigation throughout the app

And touching back on that Shake for Help feature, that comes in addition to 24/7 access to live personal assistance via email, which is handled by GreatCall’s HIPAA compliant customer support team where they use GreatCall’s secure SAS70 Type II infrastructure to keep your data private.

Bottom line, while we can poke fun at the Jitterbug, this app seems like it could actually be of benefit for quite a few people. After all, your phone is often in your hand or close by so what better way method to use as a medication reminder.
