Droid 2, Droid 2 Global, Droid X2 & More to Get Gingerbread At an Undisclosed Date
We have bad news, Motorola Android smartphone owners! Well, not for everyone, just for those people out there that like Motorola Droid phones. Well, not for all of them either, only for those of you that you actually have a Motorola Droid 2, Droid 2 Global, Droid X2 or Droid Pro. Well, not for all of those either, just those customers that would want to finally start using Android 2.3 Gingerbread on these phones.

I guess it’s pretty clear where I’m going with this isn’t it? That Gingerbread build that you’re expecting for your Motorola Droid smartphone (again, the Droid 2, Droid 2 Global, Droid X2 or Droid Pro) is not yet ready to be rolled out, which is not surprising for the Android universe. This isn’t the first time an Android update is late, and it won’t be the last time either.
While there’s nothing official from either Motorola or Verizon it does seem that Big Red has rejected the Gingerbread builds provided by Moto, and that the smartphone maker will have to iron out various Gingerbread bugs that would otherwise plague the user’s Android 2.3 experience on the Droid phones mentioned above.
There’s no news regarding the arrival of the final Gingerbread ROMs and that certainly must be pretty annoying considering that it’s almost July and some Motorola customers have been waiting for Android 2.3 to hit for a very long time. Then again we’re not surprised to hear such updates have been delayed without any public announcement since, after all, we’ve seen it happen with other major Android smartphone manufacturers.
The Droid X has been given Gingerbread powers a few weeks ago, and that’s when the bugs started apparently. In case you happen to own a Droid X running Android 2.3, we’re definitely interested to hear your opinion on your Gingerbread build. Are there any bugs that bother you on a regular basis?

By the time Moto finally rolls out any of these updates, Google will probably have released Android 4.0. Seriously, Motorola?
It’s probably time for Moto to contract their software work over to the CyanogenMod team. They make better ROMs anyways.
Android froyo was better on my dx than gingerbread. ever since the update I randomly lose 3g coverage and I have to restart my phone to get it back. also the whole phone just seems to be slower. Android, motorola, and verizon need to fix this problem as gingerbread was supposed to be so much better.
