Mitsubishi REAL LCD-22BLR500 Makes A Splash For A Different Reason
If you were around a few days ago when we brought out the massive 92 inch DLP television from Mitsubishi, you might wonder what they’ve got up their sleeves for the REAL LCD-22BLR500, an LCD system measuring a meager (by comparison) 22 inches. I think you’ll be plenty surprised by what this much smaller system has in store for you.

Not only is the Mitsubishi REAL LCD-22BLR500 a 22 inch LCD screen, but they’ll also throw in a 500 gig hard drive system (which can most likely function as an onboard DVR), but also a Blu-ray recorder (complete with AVREC support!), as well as a USB port (what, more hard drive space? Yes please!), an SD card slot (for your pictures and whatnot), two HDMI slots, Ethernet with Video On Demand support, and a pair of three watt speakers, which seems a bit on the small side, but still.
Obviously this is not meant to be the centerpiece of your home theater system. It’s got a lot of possibilities as possibly a kitchen television, a kids’ room television, maybe a bedroom model. Clearly with all those storage options they’re looking to offer up the maximum amount of content in one place, not so much focusing on the delivery of said content.
These will be available first in Japan–which isn’t at all surprising, and given the space constraints over there one of these might be very useful–starting July 21st, and they’ll be looking to get $1360 for one of these. That might seem like a lot of cash for a small television, but you do have to consider that you’re getting a full array of storage options with one of these. It’s a full media library, complete with viewer, in the space of a 22 inch LCD television with a small stand.
So what do you guys think here? Is the Mitsubishi REAL LCD-22BLR500 a good idea or a terrible waste of money? Head on down to the comments section and tell us what you think!
