Google's Ice Cream Sandwich Smartphone Tipped To Be The Samsung Nexus Prime
It was just a short while back when we last heard details about the yet-to-be announced next Nexus smartphone, aka the Nexus 3 and/or the Nexus 4G. And well, it looks like we now have another bit of information that has come available on the interwebs. And low and behold, the device is now sporting another name.

According to the latest, it looks like Nexus Prime will be it, or at least that is what it is for now. That being said, the details have come by way of the Boy Genius Report who have stated both that Nexus Prime name is a codename and that their “source believes it’s possible that the phone could launch as the “Google Nexus Prime.” Either way, for now it will be the Nexus Prime, which we have to say sounds rather cool.
Otherwise, moving past the name and into some of the more important details. The handset will be made by Samsung and sporting a “Super AMOLED HD” display along with an OMAP4460 processor.
But perhaps more interesting, and something that we have not heard just yet, is that Google may be working with several carriers and several OEMs at this point. In other words, we may see a Nexus branded handset hit all the major carrier around the same time. Kind of sounds like what they were trying to do with the original Nexus, only each carrier could have a handset from a unique manufacturer.
Bottom line, there is still quite a bit of detail that we need to see confirmed before we get super excited. Of course, that is not to say we are losing interest in the rumors, because if nothing else, this is shaping up to what could be a spectacular launch. After all, users are often jealous that a handset they want launched on another carrier, it would be really nice to see Google launch similar Nexus handsets on a variety of carriers at the same time.
