Duke Nukem Forever for Mac Coming via Steam in August [New Duke Nukem Title to be Released on Steam for Mac in August, Not Via the Mac App Store]

Duke Nukem Forever is the last game in the Duke Nukem franchise and there’s plenty of controversy around it already, not that we’d want to influence you in any way when it comes to purchasing the game. In fact we have good news for Mac owners that plan to buy the game as Steam is getting ready to deliver it to you this August.

Duke Nukem Forever will cost $45 on Steam, which is $5 less than the actual hard copy of the game. Too expensive, right? I’d go for the full retail version considering the small price difference between the two options. One would think that these virtual app stores will eventually lower prices for all kinds of software, games included, and I’d be pretty curious to see whether a Mac App Store version of Duke Nukem Forever would have been cheaper or not.

Duke Nukem Forever for Mac will come with Steamworks features and Steam Play that will get you cross-platform multiplayer action. Besides Steam for Mac running on your Apple-made laptop or desktop you’ll also need some minimal hardware requirements to play the game. They include a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB of RAM and ATI Radeon 2600 or NVIDIA GeForce 8600 graphics or better.

Duke Nukem Forever will give you access to a bunch of elements part of Duke Nukem’s life, but even though you can “shoot hoops, lift weights, read adult magazines, draw crude messages on whiteboards or ogle one of the many beautiful women that populate Duke’s life”, you’re probably going to be too busy killing everything that moves around and originates from another planet.

We’re certainly interested to hear more about your Duke Nukem Forever experience, so make sure you tell us how this new Duke Nukem experience feels like once you purchase the game later this year.
