Asus Eee PC X101 Gets A Release Date
For those of you who followed our Computex coverage of the Asus Eee PC X101 netbook and couldn’t wait to lay handsĀ on one, you were probably gravely disappointed when there was no release date at the time for you to circle on your calendars and watch for like a hawk. But now the last piece of the puzzle has slipped into place, and a release date for the Asus Eee PC X101 has been launched.

The date in question will hit this July, which admittedly isn’t so much of a date as a month, but still; considering that July starts in four days and ends 31 days later, you have a reasonable idea when your long-awaited netbook will land.
There are still set to be two versions, with two different price tags: the MeeGo version will run $199, while the stepped-up Windows 7 version will land at $310, which is also a new bit of information over our last discovery of the Asus Eee PC X101.
As for the remaining stats, everything else seems to be left well enough alone: the MeeGo version is still set to pack a three cell battery and eight gig solid state drive, making it clearly geared toward finding things online and leaving them there. The Windows 7 version, meanwhile, will step things up a notch to a 250 gig hard drive (or a 320 gig if you’d rather), and of course, you’ll be able to noodle around with the rest of the specs if you find yourself craving a bit more muscle for your cash at the possible cost of space saving.
Asus has put up plenty of interesting looking hardware in the past, though I find myself wondering if this will be sufficient muscle to handle the various slings and arrows of a typical online experience. The price is pretty nice, though, unless you want to start considering used or refurbished laptops.
Do you guys think that the Asus Eee PC X101 will be able to effectively tackle the needs of your standard mobile PC user? Or is this one just a little too lacking in the power department for your tastes? Either way, hit the comments section and tell us what you think!
