Acer Cromia AC700 Chromebooks to Start Shipping Within the Week
Acer missed the June 15 target launch date of its Cromia 700 Chrome OS powered notebook computers. Acer says it will be shipping WiFi-only AC700 notebooks before June ends, at the latest.

Samsung has already released its Series 5 Chromebooks, which are a bit bigger and a tad more expensive than Acer’s offerings. While Acer had a failure to launch last June 15, the company is said to start shipping the Wi-Fi only model before the month ends. The $349.99 device will feature an 11.6-inch screen, a 1.5 GHz Intel Atom chip, 2GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD, which is similar to Samsung’s offerings, except for the screen size.
We would all have to wait until later this summer for Acer to release its 3G-enabled AC700, though, which would be a bummer if you want to use your cloud-based Google apps away from Wi-Fi networks. Once that model is released, users will be able to enjoy 100 MB of 3G bandwidth from Verizon each month. For now, Chromebook buyers have a choice among the two Samsung Chromebooks and this WiFi-only Chromebook from Acer.
