Nokia N950 is a MeeGo Smartphone [The N950 is Another Nokia Smartphone Running MeeGo & Looks Like the QWERTY Cousin of the N9]

The Nokia N9 isn’t the only MeeGo smartphone that Nokia is launching. It seems like the N9 has a cousin that packs a QWERTY keypad.

With its specs, the Nokia N950 seems like the N9′s fraternal twin, although it hides a QWERTY keypad in a slider. So apart from the touchscreen, you also have the keypad to play with, which is excellent for composing long emails and texts.

One thing though – the N950 is a Developer-only handset, meaning it’s not likely to be released by Nokia as a commercial offering. Likewise, while the N950 shares the N9′s look from a distance, look closer and you’ll notice a few minor differences.

The N950 comes in an aluminum body, and has a 4-inch TFT touchscreen with a FWVGA resolution. The camera unit itself is also different front- and rear-facing cameras, although the image quality is at par with the N9′s Carl Zeiss lens. The N950 also has a smaller battery capacity (1320 mAh, vs the N9′s 1450 mAh).

Being a developer handset, the Nokia N950 won’t come with automatic or over-the-air updates, and will be sold in limited release. No pricing has been announced yet, although if there are any MeeGo fans out there, here’s another handset to save up for.
