Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 UK Release Date Announced

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 came available here in the US a short while back (on June 17th) and it looks like those in the UK will soon join in and be able to make a purchase. Yup, Samsung has come forward with the release date of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 for the UK as well as a small update in terms of the Galaxy Tab 8.9.

So without any further adieu, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available for sale beginning August 4th, which is sort of a bummer given its still a bit more than a month away. But that being said, it is nice to have a confirmed date to mark on the calendar as opposed to having to deal with rumors and speculation.

Otherwise, the slightly small Galaxy Tab 8.9 is set to come available sometime “later this year.” Sadly, not much in that respect, but the confirmation that it is still in the pipeline was nice to see. And as one would expect, these models will join the existing 7 inch Galaxy Tab.

With that, Samsung also noted that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available in both a 3G and Wi-Fi only model and that it will hit the store shelves running Android 3.1 Honeycomb. In terms of specs, not much we have not seen up until this point, but just in case anyone was not paying attention — here is a quick recap.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 features a 10.1 inch WXGA touchscreen display, dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3 megapixel rear facing camera, 2 megapixel front facing camera and is available in both white and/or black. And lastly, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 also ships with the Samsung Reader Hub and Music Hub which gives “access to more than 2.2 million books, 2,000 newspapers, 2,300 magazines and 13 million songs” as well as the tablet optimized version of Samsung’s Social Hub.
