Reports Suggest Motorola Droid 3 To Hit Best Buy Soon [Best Buy Stocking System Leak Shows Motorola's Droid 3 To Hit Best Buy In Matter Of Weeks]
Hey, how about that? A rumor that’s not about an Apple product for once. But we’ve got word in that says Best Buy’s planning to stock the Motorola Droid 3 a whole lot sooner than anyone might have expected. Just two days ago, our own Chris Smith caught wind of Motorola Droid 3 accessories coming soon, and wondered if a release date was close behind. The current answer now appears to be “yes it is.”

Leaks from a Best Buy stocking system showed that the Motorola Droid 3–which some are calling the worst-kept Motorola secret yet due to its constant exposure in leaks and rumors and reports from sources close to it–being received into Best Buy’s system on July 13th. That generally means they’d start stocking it promptly the next day, July 14th.
As for what the Motorola Droid 3 is packing, there don’t seem to be any big surprises over previous word. It’s still looking to boast a QWERTY sliding keyboard, a dual-core OMAP 4430 processor, eight megapixel camera (that can even tackle 1080p video!) and a Gingerbread operating system.
Now, an interesting point about this release has been raised, as Verizon’s new limited data plans go into effect a whole week before this phone is set to drop. If you’re in on the grandfather clause, and you want to get one of these, you’ll want to pick one up off-contract, and hope that LTE gets involved.
Kind of convenient that Verizon’s looking to launch its new data plans a whole week before the Droid 3 drops, isn’t it? Nothing like a little attempt to induce abandoning grandfathered plans by offering up a new phone, which definitely seems to be what’s going on here. And more than likely, some folks will throw over their old plans for a new phone.
But what about you guys? Any Verizon customers looking to overthrow unlimited data for a Droid 3? Or are you fine with your current hardware at all you can download rates? Whatever side you weigh in on, the comments section is waiting for you, so head on down and tell us what you think!
