Motorola Triumph Pre-order Available at Best Buy for $299 [Virgin Mobile Yet to Confirm Release Date But New Triumph Android Smartphone Can be Pre-Ordered Now]

The Triumph has been made official during a recent press event hosted by Sprint and Motorola. While some people may be a lot more interested in the Motorola Photon 4G, also launched at the same event, the Triumph happens to be a great choice especially for those people that prefer pre-paid contracts and/or Virgin Mobile.

We’re going to go ahead and say it, the Motorola Triumph is one of the best cheap Android phones that you can buy, and one that has plenty of fighting potential when it comes to rivaling some of the other affordable Android smartphones out there.

Why is it a cheap phone? Well, rumor has it that the phone will cost $299.99. That’s the full, unsubsidized price, and yes, we do not kid around with these things. Sure, other smartphones are priced at $199.99 (sometimes lower when part of various deals) but for that price you’d have to commit to a two-year agreement with a carrier whereas the Triumph will be a pre-paid only device.

Best Buy is confirming the price officially, so these aren’t speculations either. The phone is available for pre-order on Best Buy’s website right away, so, as long as you have the itch for a new Android smartphone, available for such a great price, you can purchase it right away.

What Best Buy isn’t revealing today is the actual launch date for the Triumph. Just the other day we told you the phone may be launched at some point after July 19, although at this time we have no way of confirming that release date. In fact we’re waiting for Virgin Mobile to make up its mind regarding the Triumph’s launch so we’ll be back with more news once we have them. Until them let us know what you think about the Triumph, will you purchase one right away?

I was hoping this phone wasn’t over $250 but I’m still going to order it since I was going to order the Optimus V but really wanted something with a bigger screen.

  • dee

Best Buy does tend to have a $50 mark up on cellular phones, so I would exercise a bit more patience and wait for it to show up at RadioS.

  • Yeah

it’s gotta be between 200-250 for it to really blow up. If they were savvy, they’d make it 229.

I’m not pulling the trigger just yet. I think Best Buy is just capitalizing on all the buzz this phone’s been receiving. Besides I just read a quote from the head of Sprint’s pre-paid subsidiaries and he said it’d be in the $199-$249 range.

The Intercept which got similar buzz when it debuted came in at $249. I bought it at Target and got a $20 Target gift card for free. Target also did this with the Optimus V.

Sorry Best Buy you can’t have my money. Honestly I can’t remember the last time I bought anything at Best Buy. I sure wish San Francisco had a Fry’s. Best Buy needs some competition big time.

I don’t care if it’s 499 I want it! It’s pretty sad that you ask your mom for a phone on your 16 birthday (today) over renting a condo for a party ha ha.

i am getting it no matter what

$300 is a fair price. You will save about $60 a month in service rates, so after 5 months you break even. Plus if you order from Best Buy and you find a much lower price, you can return it to Best Buy within 30 days and get the cheaper version. I see this as a win for reasonably prices Android with data services.

*Agree’s with SamH* people stop being cheap. You’re saving a lot a month, & this device is feature packed. It might be $400+ retail price on a contract carrier, so you are saving a lot. That’s why most pre-paid carriers get such cheap phones/devices. People don’t want to pay anything. They want it all for cheap. Somewhere down the line you have to pay. Pay for the quality.

I just dont get people just saying you will save so much money than using other company. But u gotta keep inn mind that virgin mobile does not have as good signals as verizon or att. Also 25 dollars doesnt mean everything is unlimited. 300mins is not that much

  • D

300 min is a lot when your rarely talk on the phone. if you’re in a major city and sprint gets good service there then this is the best android route to go.
