Motorola Bravo Users Can Now Sideload Apps & Use The Amazon Appstore

AT&T Brings Third-Party App Store Access To The Bravo Using the "Sideload Enabler For Bravo" App]

A while back AT&T announced that they would begin allowing the Android phones on their network to access app markets other than the official Android Market. And for those who may have missed that whole issue, Android phones on the AT&T network have always had the ability to sideload apps blocked.

Of course, for most that was never an issue, but then Amazon announced their Appstore and suddenly AT&T seems to have a change of heart. That being said, we had seen bits back in May regarding the Inspire, Captivate and Aria and well, it looks like those sporting a Motorola Bravo now have their turn. And perfect timing in that Cut the Rope came available for Android today by way of GetJar.

And interestingly, the access to third party app stores comes by way of an app that needs to be downloaded from the Android Market. The app is appropriately called “Sideload Enabler for BRAVO” and just like the name implies — it will allow you to start using places such as the Amazon Appstore.

Basically, you install and run the app and it will remove the restriction that previously blocked you from enabling the “Unknown sources” option in your settings. Bottom line, grab your Bravo, fire up the Android Market, download and run the app (which is basically launching it and then hitting the unlock button). The catch here comes with the end result — you will get a message that reads as follows;

“Congratulations! Your device is no longer locked exclusively to Android Market.”

And while that sounds good, there is still another step. You see, while the app removes the restriction, it does not automatically set your phone to allow third party app installations. From this point you will need to go to Settings -> Applications and then check the box for “Unknown sources” which reads “Allow install of non-Market applications.”
