Nokia’s First Windows Phone Handset Revealed [Nokia "Sea Ray" Shows Up In Images & Video, Looks Similar To The N9 & Will Be The First Nokia Branded Windows Phone 7 Handset]

While Stephen Elop was apparently trying to keep this from making its way into the blogosphere (his word), it seems it was not quite as successful as he had hoped. Bottom line, and a word of advice — when showing an unannounced device to a room of people — there is bound to be at least one brave enough to record video and/or capture an image.

Anyway, that being said, Stephen Elop took the stage recently and unveiled the Nokia “Sea Ray” — a device that will be better known as the first Nokia branded Windows Phone 7 handset. Of course, while we have been given an ever-so-brief look at the device, there is still quite a bit we need to learn.

First things first, the Sea Ray is sporting looks rather similar to that if the Nokia N9, not that that is a bad thing though. Anyway, what we can tell you is that the Nokia Sea Ray is running Windows Phone 7 with the Mango update in place and that it has a camera on the back and a Gorilla glass touchscreen display up front. Oh and, there are some buttons (such as the camera and volume rocker) on the side as well as what was described as a “pillow shaped backing.”

The video is rather short, coming in at just 55 seconds, however with goodies and an almost naive feel coming from Elop with goodies such as how attendees are told to put away their cameras and that “he is serious” because this is “super confidential.” Well, saying that you are bound to have someone record it and regardless of how much you “do not want it to be out in the blogosphere” or how much you remind everyone that there is to be “no pictures please” you will likely lose that battle.

Then again, losing that battle and having this phone out in the blogosphere will likely help you in the long run. After all, there are plenty clamoring over the first Nokia WP7 device — including some of the crew here at TFTS.

Not much to be happy about, the phone will not differ much from a HTC which runs WP7 as there isn’t really much hardware you can run the WP7, it’s not like Meego or Andriod which you can run on quite a lot of different hardware.
