iPhone 5 May Offer Dual LED Flash System For Its Camera [Yet Another iPhone 5 Rumor Emerges Saying The Device Will Pack Two Flashes To Improve Indoor Photograph Quality]
Grab your salt lick and reach for the tinfoil hat, folks, because we’ve got another interesting iPhone 5 rumor to serve up. And considering how many of these keep cropping up lately it’s enough to give extra credence to that whole Bloomberg report thing we spotted yesterday. This time around, it’s one especially for the iPhone camera fans, and there are plenty of those out there: the iPhone 5 might be packing a dual LED flash.

Two flashes for you, because one won’t do, that’s how the rumor of the day goes. Peddled from “market” sources who caught wind of this, the story goes that the iPhone 5 will pack two flashes in a bid to improve the quality of indoor photographs. There are even some projected companies to win the LED flash business, including Edison Opto and Everlight Electronics, who have naturally looked at everyone who asked if they got a big chunk of new business like they just sprouted a second head. Seriously, though, they’re denying they’ve got anything to do with Apple, which was generally expected.
Frankly, as rumors go, this is relatively mundane but at the same time well worth considering. We all know that iPhone cameras are spectacularly popular, and improving their capabilities by a relatively simple method isn’t a bad plan at all. Though it does make me wonder about the various flashlight apps out there that depend on the LED flash for a light source; will they need modification to use both LEDs? Or will they continue to use just one? Perhaps they can switch in the unlikely event of the loss of one LED. Still though, this will put extra functionality into an already Swiss Army Knife-style phone, though I do find myself wondering about impact on the battery life. But for a flash, the impact may be too minor to consider.
So what do you think here? Is the second LED flash a good idea on the iPhone 5? Is this largely unnecessary? Will it actually do more harm than good? No matter how you feel about it, let us know in the comments section!
