HTC Sensation to be Sold as HTC EVO 4G+ in Certain WiMAX Markets? [HTC to Send the Sensation to South Korea as the EVO 4G+; But What About Sprint?]

HTC has another 4G Android smartphone ready for certain WiMAX-ready markets and you may already know it as the HTC Sensation, the company’s latest flagship device. The phone will be sold as the HTC EVO 4G+ in South Korea, but I bet Sprint subscribers are already fantasizing about getting the phone too in the near future.

The HTC Sensation 4G has just started selling with T-Mobile in the U.S., and while it’s not ready for real 4G speeds (or is it?) it could certainly become a best-selling smartphone with T-Mobile subscribers.

Sprint on the other hand is going to start selling the HTC EVO 3D soon, a 3D phone which is supposed to be the successor of the EVO 4G. And the EVO 3D will pack 4G WiMAX support too, so maybe launching an EVO 4G+ might not be such a good idea for the carrier. But since not every smartphone fan out there wants 3D support out-of-the-box, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the HTC EVO 4G+ in Sprint stores sooner or later.

The EVO 4G+ is going to offer South Korean customers the kind of specs and features they expect from the Sensation: 4.3-inch qHD display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB ROM, 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and 1080p full HD video recording, HDMI support, microUSB connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, microSD, quadband GSM/EDGE and Android with HTC Sense on top. As for those 4G+ capabilities we’re looking at HSPA+ and WiBro (WiMAX) support so this particular smartphone version would not play nice on Sprint’s CDMA network.

There are no official release date or pricing details for the HTC EVO 4G+ yet, but the phone should be available soon in South Korean stores to fight the Samsung Galaxy S II and the upcoming iPhone 5. We’ll be back with more details about the smartphone once we have them, but in the mean time let us hear your opinion on the EVO 4G+; would you upgrade from the EVO 4G to the EVO 4G+ or to the EVO 3D?

3D is a gimmick forced upon loyal sprint customers.. the ones who went out in droves to purchase the EVO, and now HTC won’t deliver the true successor? Doesn’t make much sense to me, as someone who was looking forward to a new HTC phone, but will probably wait till the fall now.

4g+… no doubt about it… I have an Evo 4g now. I would love to have the 4g+ but wonder if I would really notice much of a difference… yeah better screen, yeah better/faster processor… but does the cost when I’m not due for a Sprint Upgrade… really justify the upgrade (if it even comes to Sprint)… probably not. The EVO 4g is so solid… it’s a year old and with recent Gingerbread and Netflix upgrades.. still hangs with the best phones out there.

I am moving up to the 4G+, Gb rom, dual core processor, physical camera button….i can’t think of a better way to upgrade form the evo, other than a programmable physical button or two. so yeah, i’m in for one. please come to sprint 4g+

It can’t work on sprint netowrk since its not a CDMA phone. Perharps t moblie or at&t subscribers would be able to use it for their GSM/HSPA+ networks

If this phone came to Sprint.. I would hop on this bad girl so quick.. I seen the videos I love it..Im currently trying out roms to get my Evo 4g up to date.. I seen alot of phones.. Nothing in the US market makes me wanna truely give up my Evo for it.. Not even the 3d..

The Evo 3d feels to much like a gimmick.. Yea its fun for the first few hours.. But after you shown everyone then what.. Ima keep my Evo 4g until either HTC comes out with better successor to this phone or Samsung/Motorola/LG (god forbid..bad experience w/ there phones and til this day I will stand by never purchasing another LG phone)

Hell if the come out with a Evo Shift w/ a slightly larger screen and front facing camera (no 3d) Im on it.. LOL.. Ill take anything over the Evo 3d..
