HP Unveils webOS Pivot For The TouchPad Tablet [HP webOS Pivot Announced, Will Be A Monthly Magazine From HP To "Complement" The webOS App Catalog]

The launch of the TouchPad tablet is getting close, it will be available on July 1st, which is one week from tomorrow. And while there is some excitement coming from webOS fans, there is also quite a bit of people wondering if HP will be able to find success with webOS.

Anyway, we have seen them do some rather interesting promotion as of late. Most of which surrounded the HP Veer, remember the Veer branded Mini Cooper and the Lady GaGa dancers in the NYC subway. Well, while this is not quite as flashy, it does get to the heart of an issue — apps.

Enter the latest from HP — webOS Pivot, which will be a monthly magazine that will help to showcase webOS 3.0 apps for the TouchPad. HP describes webOS Pivot as follows;

“Designed to complement the HP webOS App Catalog, Pivot will showcase a broad range of applications – and the developers who create them – by providing customers the freedom to explore based on their interests and lifestyles. It’s just one of the new ways HP is enhancing the webOS Developer Program and investing further in the success of the growing ecosystem.”

In addition, webOS Pivot will have “original content by journalists and photographers affiliated with leading publications” as well as “visually driven editorial pieces, columns from notable guest writers sharing their perspectives on digital culture, feature stories focused on applications around specific topics, and in-depth reviews – all accompanied by vibrant photos and illustrations on HP TouchPad’s brilliant screen.”

And nicely done, it was noted that webOS Pivot issues will vary based on “specific interests and requirements of a given region.” The HP webOS Pivot magazine will be published monthly and update on the TouchPad over-the-air. Initially it will be available in English, French, German and Spanish. With that all being said, we are excited to see HP trying to continue innovating, though, we cannot help but wonder when (or if) developers will finally start building apps for webOS.
