Asus Working on Eee Pad Transformer Upgrade
Asus’ Eee Pad Transformer is the most popular Android tablet to date because of its price and extensibility. While Asus is also releasing the Eee Pad Slider soon, the company is reportedly planning to upgrade the Transformer’s specs.

Digitimes reports that Taiwan-based Asustek is already preparing a successor to the Eee Pad Transformer, possibly upgrading the tablets’ processor and OS. Reports say that the second generation Transformer will get an upgrade to the quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 platform, and will feature Google’s upcoming Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Moreover, estimates have it that the Eee Pad Transformer’s $399 price tag is actually cheap for the specs, because the components that Asus uses cost approximately the same. The company is said to make its profits from the $150 keyboard accessory, which has a higher profit margin.
No word when the Transformer 2nd generation will be released, but we can probably expect it to be sometime this year, at the rate Asus is going with its product cycles.
