Amenbo Mouse Offers Five Finger Control Scheme
A corded mouse is so last season, isn’t it? Why, you’re probably wonder what a major cutting-edge tech publication like us is even doing looking at a corded mouse. Well, this one’s a little different, as you’ll see when you check out the picture below. We’re talking about the Amenbo mouse from the folks at the Japanese firm Double Research And Development (because just one research and development is nowhere near enough), and this one’s going to change the way more than a few people handle their mice.

See that? That’s the Amenbo mouse, and not only will you be using the mouse part located under this particular individual’s palm, but you’ll also have five extra protrusions for your fingers. While you probably wouldn’t want to draw with it or use it to run through Azeroth, you would be able to find a lot of possible use for this thing if you do a lot of 3D modeling work, or if you work with robots, as this would allow you to completely simulate a robot hand.
It’s very much a specialist tool, though I could see it working very nicely with some flight sim games, especially if you run it alongside a proper joystick. You could actually pull back on a throttle by pulling back your entire hand, for example. And some have suggested that this thing would absolutely clean house in a first person shooter environment, and I’m not inclined to disagree with that assessment.
There’s no word yet on pricing or release dates for these, so I’d like to open the floor up to you guys. What do you think about this? Is this the kind of mouse you’d like to spend more time with, or does this look like one of the more useless products you’ve seen of late? Do you think you could find use for the Amenbo mouse? Will Razer be trying to license one of these in rapid fashion, maybe call it the Gorgon? There’s room in the comments section for everybody, so head on down and tell us what you think!
