Final Cut Pro X Gets Its Long-Awaited Release Today, Along With Several Other Bits Of Apple Software

Just a week ago, our own Kevin Schram was staring at the metaphorical store shelves like that dog in the YouTube video stares at cupcakes, wondering when Apple was finally going to drop the dime on Final Cut Pro X. Well, the wait is over, folks…and there’s plenty of new software coming with it.

First off, the big news: Final Cut Pro X gets its launching orders today, and the current word out of Apple says that this is no small update, but rather a complete revamping of everything you know and love in Final Cut Pro. You’ll get a variety of new features here like the Magnetic Timeline system, that lets you do your editing on a trackless canvas, Content Auto-Analysis that lets you sort your content by things like shot type and media, as well as background rendering that lets you edit while the software renders.  But be prepared, as you’re going to have to drop $299.99 out at the Mac App Store to lay hands on your copy.

But it won’t be hitting the shelves alone, no sir, or ma’am as the case may be. It’ll be accompanied by both Motion 5 and Compressor 4. Motion 5 gives you some extra editing options in Final Cut Pro X, like titles, transitions and effects, while Compressor 4 gives you options for output delivery. Both of which you’ll be able to snag in the Mac App Store also for $49.99 each.

So yes, a fully-featured Final Cut Pro X release complete with Motion 5 and Compressor 4 will indeed run you nearly $400, but for video shooters, it’s likely nowhere near too high for them.

And what about you guys? Anybody got plans to pick up the new Final Cut Pro X, with or without its special features? Or is that price tag a whole lot more than your video budget can handle? Either way, the comments section is waiting for you to fill us in, so head on down and tell us what you’ve got in mind here.

The only reason to do this is to continue to push users to the (cr)App store. You can’t sell a $1000 (cr)App but you can sell a $400 piece of (cr)App. Next, Apple will offer to sell users stock footage for 99 cents a second. Welcome to the cloud.
