Apple vs Samsung: No Settlement Talks Yet Says Samsung

Apple Still to Fight in Courts Over the iPhone & iPad & Their Alleged Role in Inspiring Samsung Mobile Products?

Just yesterday we heard that Apple and Samsung may already be in settlement talks following the legal conflict between the two companies and today we have new updates on the matter for you. In not so many words Samsung is basically saying that the company is not yet ready to negotiate with Apple, although we all know that sooner or later an agreement will be reached. And the latest proof to support such assumptions is the Apple vs Nokia conflicts that were put to an end by a settlement.

A Samsung spokesperson apparently told V3.co.uk that:

We are unaware of any meetings or discussions between the two sides over this matter.

This is totally contradicting yesterday’s reports which suggested Apple and Samsung are in talks, at the executive levels, in order to find a more amicable resolution for these lawsuits. Who’s the liar? That’s a tough one to call right now, and I’m especially surprised it was Samsung to deny such talks and not Apple.

Of course the two companies are working together on different levels, as Apple is one of the most important Samsung clients, and the latter would probably hate to lose Cupertino’s business following their current legal fight. But those talks may not cover the lawsuits but other business matters which are important to both Apple and Samsung.

On the other hand we can’t forget that Apple came down hard on Samsung just a few days ago, calling them out for copying the iPhone and iPad with plenty of new Samsung mobile devices, so it would be strange to see them in settlement talks already. On top of that we do remember that a while ago Apple’s Tim Cook implied that negotiations with Samsung over these matters have stalled and that’s why Apple had to go forward with its lawsuit.

We’ll be back with more updates in the following weeks, since this is certainly a very important fight between giants we’re witnessing, and an important one for anyone interested in smartphones and tablets.

That’s tough! I want to buy a tablet and I’m confused between getting the iPad 2 or the samsung galaxy tab, the galaxy tab seems to be better but I’ll wait until this ends and see who wins because I think that the winner will be one step ahead of the loser.
