Nintendo: 3DS' Biggest Problems Have Been Fixed
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime says that they’ve fixed the two biggest problems with the 3DS. Of course, what those two biggest problems are will vary depending on who you ask, but according to data Fils-Aime has, they’re the lack of a big Nintendo franchise at launch and a practically non-existent online mode.

“When we launched, we had a fantastic day one and a very strong week one,” Fils-Aime said in a interview with Kotaku. “We talked to consumers. Consumers were highly satisfied with the device. They loved the built-in applications. They loved the game experiences. We had high levels of awareness. We had high levels of intent-to-purchase.”
“But when we started talking to consumers who were aware or interested, but hadn’t yet bought, they told us two things: first, I need a big Nintendo franchise for our purchase. The second thing was I need the network to be up. I need the connected experiences to be there.”
Reggie says that the first problem is being fixed with yesterday’s release of Ocarina of Time 3D, and that will be followed later on this year by Star Fox 64 3D (which has a newly-announced September release date), Super Mario 3DS, Mario Kart 3DS, and Kid Icarus: Uprising
To solve the second issue, he points to the recent release of the 3DS eShop, and he looks forward to the summer releases of the 3D Movie feature and Netflix. He said that after these features have been added and more first party titles are released, 3DS sales will begin to pick up momentum.
Do you have any issues with the 3DS? If you do, are they the lack of Nintendo games and the slim online offerings or are they something completely different? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
