iPhone 4S/5 & iOS 5 Release Date Said to be September 7

Do you guys have your grains of salt with you? Well that’s great news since we have a new iPhone 4S/5 rumor which we’re about to question right off the bat. Today we hear that the new iPhone 4S/5 will come “pre-loaded with iOS 5,”which is exactly what we expect from Apple, but what’s really interesting is the release date which is said to be September 7.

First of all, this is not the first time we hear the iPhone 4S/5 will run iOS 5 right out of the box. In fact that’s what we told you before, since, after all, that’s exactly what Apple did with iOS 4 and the iPhone 4.

Secondly, this is not the first time we hear the iPhone will drop in September, but that doesn’t mean we’re not circumspect of that launch date which has apparently been obtained by the International Business Times out of thin air. There’s absolutely no indication to prove that Apple has already made arrangements for a September 7 announcement, and it’s going to be a while until Apple sends out those invitations to that iPhone (and iPod) media event.

Of course we’d also like to point out the fact that the IBT has some proper WWDC 2011 reading to do since they missed the whole launch window for iOS 5. It’s not July, as they suggest in the article, but it’s fall 2011, which is what Apple announced on stage a few weeks ago. In July we’ll see Lion in the wild, and that’s a whole different ball game. In other words, disregarding that September 7 launch date, which I still have no idea how it got there, we end up with the following rumor: the iPhone 4S/5 with iOS 5 on board will come at some point in fall. Same stuff we heard before, different day.

But don’t despair, iPhone fans, as there’s plenty of time to go until fall 2011, so we’ll cover all the upcoming iPhone 4S/5 rumors that will appear in the following months.
