HTC Thunderbolt Gingerbread Update Release Date to be June 30?
HTC confirmed, more than once, that the Thunderbolt, along with other HTC Android devices will be upgraded to Android Gingerbread at some point in the first half of the year. Well that first half of the year is getting close to an end and it looks like we might have good news for you, Thunderbolt owners.

The word on the street is that the Thunderbolt will be upgraded to Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread on June 30 and we have some screenshots to show you that came with that particular rumor. Unfortunately Verizon is yet to comment on the situation, and we wouldn’t be surprised to hear this Gingerbread update was, for one reason or another, delayed until further notice.
Let’s not also forget that not all these leaked images we get to see on a daily basis here at TFTS are always genuine, the last example being the fake iPad 2 jailbreak teaser we showed you in the recent days. So you shouldn’t get all too excited about the pending update, at least not until Verizon makes public the official announcement.

Android 2.3.4 is said to bring, among various bug features, Skype Video support, Google Talk video chat support, HTC Sense 2.1 UI, Amazon Appstore support and others. These are all valid updates, which should improve your whole smartphone experience although we’re yet to determine the validity of the images in question.
We’ll keep close tabs on the Gingerbread update for the HTC Thunderbolt so make sure you follow us via Twitter, Facebook and our feed to receive the news in a timely fashion. And in case you happen to know more details about when this Verizon deal is going to go down, we’ll certainly love to hear more from you, anonymously, of course, about the matter.
