HP Pre 3 Release Date Set for July With AT&T & Verizon?

First Two U.S. Carriers to Get Flagship Pre 3 webOS Smartphone Next Month

After the HP Veer started selling with AT&T a short while ago, two more HP webOS devices are going to hit stores soon, the TouchPad, which some are getting free of charge, and the HP Pre 3, the next flagship smartphone of the company.

In fact word on the street is that the HP Pre 3 will be released in the USA in July with both Verizon and AT&T on board for the launch. We have no confirmed dates for either Verizon or AT&T but considering Canadians are also getting the Pre 3 next month, it makes sense to expect the smartphone in the USA around the same time.

In fact the rumor goes to say the CDMA version of the Pre 3 will start selling on July 21st, while the GSM model is expected around the same time considering the fierce rivalry between Verizon and AT&T. The existence of the AT&T Pre 3 model is backed up by some leaked images that show the smartphone with AT&T bloatware apps installed, and since the Veer is already selling with AT&T we can only expect the carrier to also be interested in the Pre 3.

Pricing details aren’t official either, but we expect the Pre 3 to be sold for the regular subsidized smartphone price in the USA, which is $199.99 with new two-year contracts, but we’ll confirm these details a little later down the road.

The Pre 3 might not have been that popular with the crowds in pre-release state, like some smartphones are thanks to all the hype built around them, but the device is definitely a great smartphone solution for your mobile needs. The Pre 3 could be a fierce adversary to the iPhone 4S/5 or the flagship Android handsets out there, although we don’t want to build up any expectations at this point as the original Pre, the phone so many people expected to be the first real iPhone-killer, was sort of a disappointment considering its overall sales performance.

Now, anyone interested in the Pre 3? What U.S. carrier would you buy it from?

I absolutely loathe HP’s tight-lip-edness on phone development/release dates. Pissing me off.

    2. sarah says:

i would buy it with sprint, pleeease bring it to sprint!!

    3. lew says:

I’m so done with palm/hp if it doesn’t cme to sprint. Pisses me off to no end. I’ve been with them since the first treos. They’re lack of new phones and bugs when they actually get around to releasing a new phone every 2 years is enough to abandon them. And now they go to two carriers that aren’t the ones where the primary fanbase is, which is sprint. They go to at&t and verizon and they fail vs. the iPhone. 100%. And I’m going to be happy about it if they do.

    4. strider says:

Sprint is the worst phone company, get a real one and then we will talk lol

    5. Dee stands by sprint 100% says:

sprint has the best coverage here in the midwest. I’ve never had a problem with reception or customer service. But no word of sprint gettng the remarkable pre3 is a problem. If were not able to receive pre 3 on sprint release webos 2.2 to the origanl pre owners.

    6. Sweat Studio says:

Been waiting and waiting. I have both Sprint and Verizon but I would prefer Sprint with an unlimited data plan (yeah long shot). I already pre-ordered my Touchpad, so a matching pair of WebOs devices I would be an invincible business man right?

    7. Ron says:

I agree, I am with Sprint and plan to remain there. If Pre3 does not come to Sprint, I’m going to Android!

    8. Ron says:

No doubt! I have the same goal.

    9. Ron says:

If Sprint sold the iPhone and iPad, HP would be in there like a dirty shirt. Look at it this way, If you want to compete against Apple, you use up shelf space where the Apple products are selling. Down the road, maybe, you might want to go after HTC/Android-Windows, then you make a deal with Sprint. The big piece of cake here is Apple.

It’s all about what’s in it for HP! Not their fault if Palm customers are at Sprint! All the customers need to do is flip and switch!

    10. Tom says:

I have the original Pre and I love it. I’ll follow WebOs. So if sprint doesn’t carry the 3 I’ll be moving to Verizon.

    11. Derek says:

it’s August where the hell is the pre 3 i have been waiting almost a year for this phone.

    12. Derek says:

I switched from sprint to at&t because sprint wanted to tack on a extra $25 dollars a month data because i switch phone to one of my old phones while my pre was getting a replacement screen , that’s bad customer service after 7 years with them. at&t now has all my webOS business
